Cancellations
Please call and give a 24 hour notice if you plan to miss a lesson. I will reschedule within one week
if possible or use five-week months for make-up lessons when I'm available. There are no make-ups
for cancellations on the lesson day.  Students who stop lessons for one month with plans to return
will be charged 50% of the monthly fee for the time slot, studio rent and administration costs.
Students who stop lessons permanently must give a 30-day notice to me. Without notice I will bill
50% of the fee to compensate for studio rent and administrative costs. Once paid I don't give
refunds when a student quits lessons into the month.

Materials
Students should come to lessons with a playable instrument in good adjustment, a pencil, notebook, lesson book and technical and solo material presently being studied. Please arrive at your
scheduled lesson time and knock and enter if it is your start time.

Lessons
I encourage students to come to lessons even if you don't feel you've practiced or prepared the material. Technique, breathing, tone production, and musicianship can always be studied during lessons.

Lessons at Kolacny Music are on a 45-minute schedule, with the option of a 30-minute slot for beginners, or a 1-hour slot for advanced students.

Recitals
Studio recitals are scheduled annually as a solo performance opportunity with piano for those
students wishing to participate. Students are encouraged to enter their school district's Solo and Ensemble Festival as well as area student competitions, honor bands and orchestras.

Teaching Style
My focus is directed at producing a professional quality flute sound by teaching proper placement
and position, posture, embouchure control, breath technique, and proper use of the body in playing, (things not in method books). I use a traditional classical foundation using standard method and
etude books, repertoire, history and theory, as well as supplemental warm up material I have written
and provide for my students.

I teach towards the students individual needs thus directing my teaching specifics towards what is needed at that particular time. I am easy going but passionate with high artistic goals. I'm am
looking for the seriously minded and motivated flute student, who has a sincere interest in
becoming an accomplished flutist.
